A BOOK FOR SENSITIVE HIGH ACHIEVERS

Amazon deleted my book.

I'm glad they did.

One morning, everything I'd built disappeared but what it taught me mattered more than any milestone it ever reached.

(Read what happened below)

What happened?

In the early months of 2026, my book became a bestseller on Amazon.57 five-star reviews. Messages from strangers telling me the book had changed how they saw themselves. This was an amazing feeling and I was so happy to be helping people in this way.But without realising it, I'd also started using the book's success as proof.Proof I was good enough.
Proof that I mattered.
Proof I'd finally made it.

Then one morning, Amazon removed it.

The reviews disappeared. The bestseller badge disappeared. All that proof disappeared with it.For someone who'd just written a book called Dissolving Overthinking, I did a spectacular amount of overthinking. What hurt most wasn't losing the book. It was losing what the book had started to mean about me.When you use success to prove your worth, you also give failure the power to take it away. The goal isn't to stop caring about success. It's to stop asking success to tell you who you are.

What are you currently using as proof that you're enough?

Your title? Your income?
Your business?
Other people's approval?
And the harder question:
Who would you be if that proof disappeared tomorrow?
I wrote Dissolving Overthinking for people who are tired of living like their worth is something they have to keep proving.

What's actually inside?

The pattern I described above is the exact one this book is built to dissolve. Most people have overthinking completely wrong. We spend years trying to silence it, fight it, or outsmart it, as if it's a flaw to eliminate. But overthinking isn't a personality flaw. It's a learned survival strategy, one that convinces you to keep proving your worth so nothing bad happens. You can't think your way out of that. Dissolving Overthinking isn't about controlling your mind or fixing yourself. It's about understanding why your mind does what it does, and gently loosening the patterns underneath it. No force. No pressure. No spiritual bypassing.Inside, you'll learn how to:
- Break free from mental loops and constant rumination
- See why willpower + positive thinking were never going to work and what actually does
- Transform your relationship with your emotions instead of suppressing them
- Build self-trust without tying your worth to performance or achievement
- Feel calm, grounded and free without needing to control everything
Written by someone who lived it, not just studied it. I spent years inside companies like Google and Uber, outwardly thriving, inwardly exhausted by a mind that wouldn't stop grading every move I made.

DISSOLVING OVERTHINKING11

June 2018.

I’m hiding in the toilets at the Uber office, desperately fumbling with my phone, trying to find a meditation track. My vision is blurry, my hands are shaking. I’m in the middle of a panic attack.

I give up, rush home, and call my doctor.

“Alex, you’re burning out.”

At first, I was relieved, but then the shame spiral began. Why me? Why was I falling apart when everyone else pushed through? Why couldn’t I handle the pressure, the stress, the endless deadlines?

At the time, I told myself: I must be weaker than them. I’m not cut out for this. I don’t have what it takes.

But now I see things very differently. My burnout wasn’t a sign of weakness. It was my body doing exactly what it was designed to do. An alarm system going off long before my mind understood why. It was warning me early, giving me the chance to course-correct before it was too late.

That moment in the Uber office was the beginning of everything you’re about to read.

It wasn’t just burnout. It was a mirror. Forcing me to confront the invisible prisons I’d been living in for years, the ones I couldn’t see because I was too busy performing, achieving and pushing through.

I thought burnout was the problem, but the real problem was what caused it: an overactive mind trying to control circumstances and manage emotions I didn’t know how to feel.

If your life looks great on paper, but deep down you’re wrestling with overthinking, anxiety and the constant feeling that something’s missing, then this book is for you.

12DISSOLVING OVERTHINKING

In the pages ahead, I’ll help you uncover the hidden forces that keep you stuck in these cycles. But most importantly: I’ll show you the way out.

By the time you turn the last page, you’ll know how to:

  • Unhook from the mental loops that keep you stuck.
  • Reclaim your emotions as a source of power.
  • Live by your own agreements, not other people’s scripts.

This book won’t be about turning you into a “better” version of yourself, it will be about coming back to the version of you that never needed fixing in the first place.

Chapter 1:

CONCEIVED IN A THREESOME

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”

– Ralph Waldo Emerson

I was conceived in a threesome.

But not in the way that you might think. I was conceived in a threesome of cultures. My mum is English, my dad is Danish, and I was born in France. When I lived in France, they called me “Rosbif”. When I lived in Denmark, I was “Frenchy” and in the UK “Danish Pastry”.

From the outside, it looked pretty cool. I spoke multiple languages and lived in different countries. But inside, it felt confusing: too English to be French, too Danish to be English, too French to be Danish.

I grew up between cultures that valued achievement, politeness and conformity. Together, they created the ultimate validation seeker.

Praise became my compass. If I achieved, I was okay. If I disappointed, I was not. Every grade, every nod of approval fed a fragile sense of worth that depended entirely on others.

14DISSOLVING OVERTHINKING

By the time I entered the corporate world, this conditioning was invisible to me, until my first manager at Google told me, “Remember, you’re still on your probation period.” I felt something I’d never felt before… anxiety. A constant hum that just wouldn’t leave my body.

My solution? Control. Whenever I felt in control, anxiety would leave me alone.

So I started analysing every interaction, checking messages 10 times before sending them. My brain became a control centre, protecting me from mistakes, rejection and disapproval.

It worked for a while, got me a job at Uber and promoted within the first year. But eventually it became my prison. My mind never stopped working, even when my body begged for rest. And a few years later, that same drive that got me promoted had me hiding in the toilets, unable to breathe.

Freedom Practice: The Validation Map

Answer these three lines without editing:

  1. As a child, I learnt I had to be ________ to feel loved.
  2. When I wasn’t that, I felt _____________.
  3. Today, this shows up when I _________.

Look at what you wrote. This is the logic your younger self adopted to survive, and in the pages ahead, we’ll look at reconnecting with the version of you that existed before those patterns took over.

(function(){ var track = document.getElementById('doCp3Track'); var dots = document.querySelectorAll('#doCp3Dots .do-cp3-dot'); var prev = document.getElementById('doCp3Prev'); var next = document.getElementById('doCp3Next'); var index = 0; var total = 4; function render(){ track.style.transform = 'translateX(-' + (index * 100) + '%)'; dots.forEach(function(d, i){ d.classList.toggle('active', i === index); }); } function go(i){ index = (i + total) % total; render(); } prev.addEventListener('click', function(){ go(index - 1); }); next.addEventListener('click', function(){ go(index + 1); }); dots.forEach(function(d){ d.addEventListener('click', function(){ go(parseInt(d.getAttribute('data-i'), 10)); }); }); var startX = null; track.addEventListener('touchstart', function(e){ startX = e.touches[0].clientX; }, {passive:true}); track.addEventListener('touchend', function(e){ if(startX === null) return; var dx = e.changedTouches[0].clientX - startX; if(dx > 40) go(index - 1); else if(dx < -40) go(index + 1); startX = null; }, {passive:true}); })();

but your mind rarely switches off.
You replay conversations.
Overanalyze decisions.

On the outside, things look fine.
On the inside, it feels busy, tense, exhausting.
You don’t want more productivity hacks
or another system to manage yourself.
You want inner space.
You want to trust yourself again.
You want your life to feel lighter.

You can’t solve overthinking with more thinking

Dissolving Overthinking isn’t about controlling your mind or fixing yourself. It’s about understanding why your mind does what it does and learning how to relate to it differently. No force. No pressure. No spiritual bypassing. Just practical insight, emotional clarity and a calmer way of being with yourself.
